Maria Davies Bligh, Artist at the Easel

Maria Davies Bligh – BA (Hons) Arts & Humanities

Hi there!  I’m Maria and I’m an artist known for my realistic portraits of animals – my favourite beings.

I aim to bring pleasure to the world one piece of artwork at a time.

Born in Liverpool, raised in Scotland and now based in Sussex, my previous business saw me travelling the world as a presenter.  My globe-trotting was cut short due to eyesight loss through glaucoma.

This clipping of my wings has allowed me to rekindle my lifelong passion for art which I produce in my home studio, whilst trying to keep the cats off the easel.

I’m honoured to have already produced commissions for environmentalist, Dame Jane Goodall who sadly passed away in October 2025, and original artwork for The Badger Trust.

I’m equally honoured when I’m asked to produce any special piece of art, whether it’s of a special pet – on either side of Rainbow Bridge – or a favoured animal.

Original artwork is both a collector’s item and an ideal gift for those who can be difficult to buy for.

Keep in Touch

“I want to congratulate you – the portrait is stunning!  It captures David’s whole personality.

Dame Jane Goodall, Bournemouth

I am proud to have been asked to produce this original artwork for the wonderful and ground-breaking Dame Jane Goodall, pictured here with the commissioned portrait I produced of David Greybeard, her favourite chimpanzee

The wonderful naturalist and total animal-lover, Chris Packham, accepting an original badger portrait on behalf of The Badger Trust.  This work will be auctioned to raise funds for this hard-working charity, currently fighting the shocking UK badger cull
